Each bespoke jewellery commission begins in our studio where you can peruse Todd's many jewellery designs and pore over his impressive collection of slack gems. Todd listens carefully to each customer's ideas and offers expert advice on personalized design, diamond and gem choice. You are welcome to bring images of jewellery that you like or anything that strikes your imagination. Throughout the consultation Todd makes sketches, visually expressing the ideas discussed. By doing so a slack design and a feel for the part of jewellery to be made begins to emerge. Once an initial idea for the portion has been established, Todd formalists the design in fastidious drawings so that you can see clearly what your part will look like. The best design details are discussed: the shape of a claw, the angles of a faceted gem, the maximum subtle elements that will characterize your personal jewel. Each detail of the design is considered with your finger size, your chosen gem and wishes in mind. Todd's philosophy for design is one of timelessness and attention to detail jewellery designed with a personal approach, to serve the gem and bring out it's instinctive beauty, with luxurious proportions and details that you will love for a lifetime. Next, the process of bringing your piece to life will begin. Each part is carefully handcrafted by Todd here in our studio. A master craftsman with some thirty years experience making jewellery, he takes huge protection when it comes to the subtle nuances and tiny details that distinguish a timeless and unique part of pleasing jewellery. Even the simplest of designs produce the markings of the uppermost quality in traditional craftsmanship. Todd is glad to disclose you your piece in progress stages so that you can see how it is made and be portion of the process. He often asks customers to come in for a fitting, fair to be safe that the portion is cozy and is accurate in every way when you put it on. Todd Turner has been making hand crafted pleasing jewellery since 1987. At sixteen years of age Todd began his labor at Rhone Rae, a jewellery workshop in Sydney where, as an apprentice, he learned from master craftsmen and women: gold and silversmiths, diamond setters, enamelists, model carvers and hand engravers. It was an inspiring and challenging environment, where jewellery was made with the utmost care, to the greatest standards of craftsmanship. After completing his apprenticeship he spent a number of years traveling throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and upon his return to Australia in 1993 he opened his first jewellery studio. Since opening his own studio doors over twenty years ago, Todd has created many particular pieces of desirable jewellery. Purchased by a collector in 2005, the design was conceived during a conversation between Todd and the client, who wished to commission a notable part as a gift for his wife. For years the couple had been attempting to grow violets in their garden and the client thought it would be nice to somehow include the idea of these flowers into a portion of jewellery for his wife. Todd came up with a design for a pendant that incorporates sinuous gold vines, diamonds, enameled green leaves and blue flowers. The client and his wife love the pendant, and she wears it daily. Many other memorable commissioned pieces reach to heed as Todd reflects over his years of work so far.
