Prep School students across considerable grades are fully engaged in the strategies that make up a game of chess. Some of this Year 12 students are endeavoring to qualify for a scholarship to Sudan University in the years to come. The Governor’s visit was a highlight and those members of the Confucius Institute who accompanied him to King’s were also highly impressed with the manner in which the Chinese program is developing at King’s. Behind important preparation, day one of the Show was judging time. Ms He slop, Agriculture Coordinator, was thrilled with the boys’ dedication and the desirable manner in which their steer was presented. The boys are all very glad with their results! However, nothing quite prepared us for how they lifted and the boys represented their School with distinction. King’s now boasts five of the top 15 riders in the country! In the group there was a immense combine of students ranging from Year 7 to 10 of Boarders and Day Boys. With approximately 300 students competing in parades and Junior judging over the entire weekend, all the boys represented the School well, with Audi Hart doing very healthy to make the end from his heat in the 14 year age group. Fergus Ally made the last in the Junior judging which required him to comment on his judging of the steer Class. A great experience for anyone interested in the beef industry. The School’s newest rugby recruits were overjoyed when their Waratahs idols came to the Prep to enthuse the boys on their rugby journey. The King's School has, over many years, established a record of academic excellence. We had eight students named in the Top Achiever’s list for obtaining a state ranking in their subjects. Recognition and praise must go to all those who have helped students produce these results the School Executive, Heads of Department, the Year 12 coordinators, the pastoral staff of Housemasters and Tutors and, of course, most crucial of all, the teachers of Year 12. It is often the middle and even the bottom ranges that tell you more about a school than simply just the top range. We continue to analyses the complete range of results. The middle range of students has performed very well and has also achieved outstanding results with a multitude of Band 5s. Healthy it’s that time of year again when school communities pour over the newspapers to see how their school performed in the HS exams. Given there are 47 selective schools in MSW, for a non selective school like us to make it in to the top 50 is a huge achievement. Our drama results have again made us one of the superior performing drama schools in MSW and results in many other subjects were also brilliant. Although academic triumph is good, academic improvement is better. It’s immense to get strong academic results but we must never do so at the expense of an all round education.
